Davene Wasser
The Accidental Octopus was born from a mother's love. Davene Wasser is a third-generation artist whose drawings were confined to the margins of her notebook until she began fundraising for her child to get a service dog. She bought some paper and a set of pencils and hasn't looked back. Davene works from photographs, creating unique charcoal drawings that honor the connections we have with the beautiful souls around us. People throughout the US commission Davene to capture the essence of their favorite humans and furry friends, and she is deeply humbled to be doing this work. Her artwork and the incredible generosity of family and community allowed her to reach her fundraising goal and her daughter was matched with a service dog in 2019. Davene donates ten percent of her proceeds to nonprofits that benefit animals (for animal portraits) and children and families (for people portraits).
